Tried to find a link but doesn't appear to be up yet. I will check back later.

Apparently hot beverages may cause cancer though!

Misleading title on that news clip. They mention nothing about "automatic" weapons. Also, the HPD officer recommending we get a big dog is interviewed and apparently in support of the rap-back system.

Just guessing (I know, I'm a prejudiced bigot), but thinking it's possible he's never seen a civilian surveillance policy/program he didn't like or at least think was "useful" if not "necessary" (for "public safety" or "for the children", etc.).

I don't understand what this clip is about?
1.  the title is "Automatic weapons in Hawaii"  I didn't get to see any automatic weapons....
2.  They pose the question "how common are these types of guns in Hawaii?"  I don't believe they gave an answer
3.  They go to on to talk about the glorious rapback system.

Seemed fair enough?

"Choose your weapon!"

All in all, not that bad a piece of reporting. Clearly the reporter did not know much about firearms but I guess that really isn't the issue they were concentrating on either.

props to bill r for pointing out that the rap back system is illegal and that litigation will be the likely result if the bill is signed into law

I thought he dealt with that question particularly well. He acknowledged the good intent of the system but then went on to legality concerns.

I wonder if they edited out the reason for why there is legality concerns.  Just stating the there are legality concerns just makes us look like we are not really concerned with keeping firearms out of the wrong hands.

Thank you Bill for speaking for us!

They edited out a lot of what I said, but based on my experience they frequently do...gotta learn to speak more in "sound bites" rather than more lengthy and thought out responses....

That being said, I think the piece was pretty good....and gotta give Maleko props for the ending: " same goal (keeping guns out of the hands of bad guys...) regardless of which side of the debate you fall on..."

"Lengthy thought out responses" are verboten in TV news.
