Haha, good one. I think this needs to go off topic.

I picked up a cheap Master Forge smoker from Lowes because I wasn't ready to spend the money for a 'real' one. It works great and many people mod them with ECB (El Cheapo Brinkman) mods. Mine is bone stock and smokes great. Gotta love a 12 hour long smoked brisket or pork shoulder. Mmmmm...I need to cook again.

I think most people in Hawaii just grill. Does anyone else use a smoker?

I use an old school Japanese  kamado.  It was my grandfather's one.  Its that green ceramic egg looking thing.  http://www.biggreenegg.com/  This is the modern day version of it.  Buggah is winners!!!

The more important question should be what kine wood do you smoke with.  After years of fooling around we've found that it makes a big difference.  My two favorites are citrus tree wood and guava wood.  Gives the meat a really good flavor.  :D

I have a propane powered vertical box smoker.  Three racks, smoke box, and a waterbowl (keeps air moist).  I use Hickory or Mesquite....I am from Texas and that is what I grew up with.

We should have a smoker challenge or something like that.   Ribs, Chicken, etc.   Or at least a cook off so we have an excuse for another get together.
Relax, I've banned myself..

I have a smoker/grill.  It has a fire box on the side.  Did some ribs that turned out real well.  I'll have to check the brand.

mostly hunters smoke any meats. We built our own smoker out of fire brick. Beautiful thing it is. I'll take pictures and post later. Before we used to us the oooold fridges, the one that only had one door and the pull leaver to open it. Gut out the inside and you got a smoker. A lot of hunters did it here.

That's cool.  My old apprentice had family on the Big Island that did the same thing.  Their smoke room was like a small closet he said.  My dad is a mason and he taught me to set  brick.  I wouldn't mind building one when I buy a place.  I can't wait for your pics.

I might be down for some smoke out bbq fest depending on my work schedule.  This swing shift thing is starting to get old.

I use a 55g barrel as mines.  Set up some air holes and grates inside, good to go

Ah, the good ol' UDS (Ugly Drum Smoker).

I use mesquite wood chunks I picked up from Lowes along with charcoal in my smoker. It uses a water pan to keep the temps down.

Yup some kiawe and some soaked guava wood to go right ontop.  Good thing about all the holes is you can control the fire a bit.  Need to go find me something else to cook now
