I have 3 broomhandles I have been working on for 20 years to convert it into a Hans Solo Blaster.  Hopefully by the time I finish them I can get a real 1 megawatt laser to fit!

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

Under what category would the cricket be considered?
Probably all other weapons so it probably not legal in Hawaii.

Nope, it'd be completely legal. According to HRS, it is isn't a firearm. Well maybe it'd be classified as a deadly weapon but I don't think so.
"Firearm" means any weapon, for which the operating force is an explosive, including but not limited to pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, automatic firearms, noxious gas projectors, mortars, bombs, and cannon.

Damn it, my work proxy says it's an ADULT site.

It's not a handgun, but the M41A pulse rifle from Aliens is on top of my list:

How awesome is this gun? There's a web site dedicated to it: http://www.m41a.com/

If anyone gets one they have to take it to the range and leave it on a bench to see everyone's reaction.

What about Ahnold's rail gun in that movie Eraser.  Does that count as sci-fi?

Constatine's Holy Shotgun.  Good for home defense against unwelcomed intruders as well as zombies, demons, vampires and all other forms of hell spawn.  No spray and pray here, just spray!  Comes equipped with the original Cross hair sight too.

That "Noisy Cricket" one reminds me of a handgun I "invented" for one of my stories, the .11 UHV.

8000 f/s but with a designed-in lousy ballistic coefficient, so it practically dropped to the ground at about 100 yards.  This same "designed-in lousy ballistic coefficient" resulted in its devastating effect on soft watery materials.  Like flesh.

The "UHV" stood for "Ultra High Velocity."  That was written before I found out that there's an upper limit to powder-actuated velocities of around 5000 f/s or so.  Some say more, some say less.

By the way, you know there's a "Crickett" model of rifle specifically proportioned for kids?

http://www.crickett.com/

Luvs me them Eddie Murphy movies.  Luvs me when they "racked" those enormous damned long arms in the Noisy Cricket clip.

And there's a couple of scenes in The Simpsons where somebody racks a double-barreled shotgun. :)
