Interesting stuff.  I recall reading this article before when I was having trouble with Tula.  It's been a while since I've shot any Tula, but i'll have to remember to come back to this and read again now that I have a carbine set up specifically for testing with underpowered ammo, like Tula. 

I recall that when I was having problems with Tula in my DD, IIRC, DD's customer service team highly recommended against shooting Tula and the stuck casings was an issue.  I'd have to dig up the emails. 

But dayum, 40k rounds to test would be awesome!  Well, they made it through most of it.

I shot 440 rds wolf steel in the AR and no jams.  Just a lot dirtier than brass.

Shot 300rds aluminum Blazer in the VP9 and have a broken slide plate.  HK says its due to the aluminum ammo.  I can't imagine why a part would break after only 300rds.

I've shot lots of aluminum Blazer in my Glock 17.  I would have no problems buying and shooting that if the price was right.  Just curious as to what could break from a specific casing material, and not even steel cased 9 mm. 

When my Bushy was new, I was shooting Wolf but stopped using it because of all of the breach stuck cases. 
After enough rounds, the lacquer would build up and result in FTE consistently. 
We now shoot 99.999% Mil spec in our Ar's.
The worst case I've had  was a primer blowing out and falling so precisely as to be in the path of the BCG gas port as it sprung forward onto gas port tube smashing primer inside .

Just read through the article closer and found that the difference in barrel wear was such a big difference.  When I first got into ARs, I had many questions about hammer forged, chrome lined, etc.  Seems like the jacket material differences in this test might be an interesting one for different barrel construction and treatments.  10,000 rounds though.  I think I've only gotten to close to 5000 rounds on two separate guns and it's taken me quite a while to get there. 

Initially, I read this article to research problems with Tula and see how they paralleled to what I had noticed in my guns.  Maybe I'll stick to Wolk or Brown Bear for cheap(er) steel ammo, but recently, I haven't even been able to find any steel cases ammo for cheap.

I'd be interested in seeing the results from that.  Though one thing I was thinking is that AKs are sort of "synonymous" with steel cased ammo and being more tolerant.  Still, always good information as to see what happens over time with these guns.  Many of us won't ever get to 10,000 rounds in any single gun, but good to know what to watch out for if any of us ever do.  Sort of like odometers in cars.  I mean, I'd love to shoot my guns enough to get those kinds of round counts, but that's a lot of $$$ in ammo.

Daniel @KGS did an AK torture test with 1,000's of rounds of crappy ammo, uncleaned gun that was dragged thru the mud etc... for something like two years.

I fire steel Tulammo in my AK VEPR to zero the scope then shoot reloaded brass. The only difference I've seen is that the brass gets beat up pretty bad but nothing detrimental. Accuracy is about the same. I'm trying to find a bullet/powder that will be accurate at 100 yards.
