Disposal of Firearm
« on: October 17, 2018, 03:13:06 PM »
Have an old Lorcin 25 that no longer works (jam-o-matic) and was registered many moons ago. Want to turn it in to HPD for disposal minus the slide, barrel and recoil spring. Reason is I want this thing off the street and not be an HPD freebie for their gunsmith to repair and “farm it out”. I have not destroyed the slide but am considering it. Just want to turn the frame in for destruction and get a receipt. Think they’ll bitch about it minus the slide? Serial is on the frame.

Should be fine with just the serial number on the frame. I believe they bitch if trying to register a partially completed new firearm.

Lorcin. That’s a blast from the past along with Raven and Jennings. I think they were all related somehow. They were made in Los Angeles and the 3 companies were known as the Ring of Fire as all they made were “Saturday Night Specials”. Cheap little guns that never worked well. I think AIM or SOG still has a bunch of them, brand new that they sell like $25 or some ridiculous price. The frames (Maybe the slides, too?) were made from zinc alloy commonly known as pot metal. They used to be all over the gun shows in the 90’s. Then Los Angeles outlawed “Saturday Night Specials”.

Destroy it yourself and turn the pieces in to HPD.

Done.... left the frame intact but heated the barrel till it was white hot then put a good 45 degree bend in it! The slide is crushed and in three pieces.
Looking forward when I turn it over to HPD tomorrow! :geekdanc:

Ooh Jennings brings back memories. Cheap but yes not the most reliable.

I wouldn't worry about hpd repairing it. Jam-o matic is the normal function on those saturday night specials. The melt easy too.
