Long story short. I bought 8 bottles of Titegroup for 10 bucks off a friend that's moving.

I usually use CFE Pistol or Longshot to load hot 9mm rounds. I stepped up from 3.6grs of Titegroup to 5.0grs to find a good margin of error for progressive loading.

Bullet used was a 124gr FMJ recessed base from Everglades. .355" diameter, .618" OAL roughly.

5.0gr Titegroup, 1.140" COAL, 124gr FMJ RB from Everglades, mixed brass.

Moderate pressure signs on the primers, but spent cases still fall into my Glock 19, SIG P365, and Custom Glock chambers.

Am I being a retarded? I know Titegroup isn't meant for this work but was hoping to load this to 4.7gr on a Dillon 550 giving me a good margin of error. Hodgdon's website doesn't give much data on 124gr loads and their bullet listed is different than mine. So I just worked my way up.

Haven't been reloading long, just 9mm right now. Any of you guru's masters at loading 9mm Titegroup? This powder was so cheap I want to use it and still have it recoil close to a Winchester 9mm NATO to train with.

Give it to me straight. Back the eff down or did I do this margin for error thing right for progressive loading?

EDIT: 5.0gr of Titegroup / 2nd pic pair on the left shot from a stock 19 Gen 5, 2nd pic pair on the right shot from a custom 19 with a Blacklist barrel, 3rd pic shot from a SIG P365.

All G19 spent cases still plunk into the chambers they were shot from. P365 cases all charges do not plunk back into it's chamber under it's own weight.

Your primers are cratering, which is a sign of excessive pressure.  TG is a good powder and I've used it at 4.6gr in 9mm w/115 & 124gr FMJRN heads without problems.

Have you tried chronoing them? I wanted to pick on up soon so I don't have to chase my tail with "feel" anymore. I was probably going to try a shorter COAL. Maybe 1.09" which is what Hodgdon's has listed for a 125gr FMJ and just start back down at 3.6gr again.

Following. I load tons of 124gr plated RN at 4.0gr Titegroup 1.150". I have not tried FMJ. I do have a chrono but it is not pistol compatible. I have no desire to load 9mm to +P.

I would say that 5gr is definitely a good "blow your face off" load.

I called Hodgdon earlier today and they recommend me to use the 125gr Sierra FMJ data they have because the only 124gr they tested is a Berry's hollow base round nose. Completley different bullet than a standard FMJ they said.

I will probably start another string of test with the 125gr FMJ data Hodgdon customer service told to use.

JMHO,  Why beat your guns up for practice?  Just load a reliable accurate load and practice.  Don't worry about "felt recoil"   Good practice with good technique, recoil won't matter much.

Also, be aware that shorter OAL will increase pressure, and in a small capacity case like 9mm, pressures could spike.

TBH, 5.0gr of Titegroup didn't even get me the kick I wanted to simulate a Winchester NATO or my Federal HSTs, I'll be sticking to CFE or Longshot for that, which I'm running real low on btw. I know extended use at that powder charge is bad for the gun. I was just curious how much I could get out of this dirt cheap powder. I will most likely be loading 4.6gr of this stuff till I run out.

I'm gonna be using a friend's chronograph next time I test out more loads @ kokohead. I'm really wondering what 5.0grs is clocking at. Only for recording purposes.

Ok now I see. New reloader, definitely back it down quite a bit.

I was on the pistol side one day and saw a guy put the back plate of his glock into his forehead.  Luckily the blast only broke the gun and gave him a superficial (but bloody) wound.  Just be careful.
