Red Dot for .22LR pistol?
« on: April 28, 2012, 04:26:23 PM »
Just went to OGC today and bought a Ruger 22/45 with a Weaver style rail on the top.  Can you guys recommend me a good (under $75) red dot that I could throw on it for plinking?  There are about a billion red dots on amazon so I'm not exactly sure what I should look for.  Don't want anything too expensive, though I really don't want it to fall off halfway through the day.

Thanks!

That thread started as a .22LR suggestion thread then skewed off into red dots a little.

Dedicated red dot thread here

I would say at a minimum, get one that has 2 colors. Its useful for different lighting situations. Mine is red/green, I think there's a few with red/blue and some with three colors red/blue/green.
I want a purple dot. Dex, please find me a purple one  :worship:

We will have a variable color one coming out by the end of the year.

TASCO Propoints.  You have a bunch of models to choose from:

I have a propoint on my 22 ruger pistol. It has given me over 17 years of trouble free service. The propoints are available in various models that are easy on the wallet.

Having said that, I just bought a vortex sparc on an impulse buy. It is better suited for a rifle application. I have not decided on which rifle to mount it on. I got a good deal on it thru Cabelas. 1 cent shipping combined with the Cabelas club points ( $65 off ) made the deal irresisitable.
