Not that everyone doesn't already know this... but here is an example of them cutting the locks off a gun case and replacing them with cheap garbage... and then giving the owner the run around. It's a 12 minute video [honestly, not worth watching after the first two minutes where you get the idea...] that will make one feel almost as frustrated as the actual owner who is dealing with these idiots.

This story brings to mind a recent incident. My leo co-worker was flying out of a mainland airport with his agency badge stowed in his backpack. The TSA Ofc. Detained him and called a supervisor, claiming the pin on the back of his badge was an "edged weapon"! Credentials were shown, to no avail. Thank God the sup was reasonable. 

When I flew a couple of months after 9-11, the security chkpoint confiscated a 4 inch long flat nose tweezer I had because “the point was sharp.”  But they missed the cheap plastic handle box cutter I had that was about 5 x 3/4 inches and had those snap off blades.  Just a few months ago I was taking things out of my carry on after I got home and was surprised to find the 2.5 inch folding knife I had in there.  The person running the X-ray missed seeing that.

I had the morons confiscate a 6" Crescent wrench i kept with my scuba regulators to check hose tightness. 

I was sorely tempted to ask them what the hell i could possibly do with a small crescent wrench, unbolt the friggen wings in flight?

I said nothing, knowing the gehttopotamus manning the toll booth would take instant offense.  The cracker would get a lesson in not dissin' the ghettopotamus in charge, yo!
