I'm so bent by this bill, that I'm at a loss for words.
Here are the main features of the bill (would only apply if any person in the state ever got a license to carry):
Makes term of a license to carry (concealed or unconcealed) six months (most states are 3-5 years).
Requires a firearm safety/use-of-force legal info course (as approved by the respective county chief of police) of at least 8 hours (paid for by applicant, of course) within 30 days prior to each six-month renewal application.
Mandates that any approved licensee
MUST carry an electric gun at all times when carrying an approved firearm. Not possessing the electric gun requires that the license "shall be revoked".
This is what they now tout as "commonsense gun safety regulations".

Wait.

What can we expect Wednesday at 10AM? Unanimous approval in committee? Amended to: Make the term of the license a "more reasonable" 7 months (or "safer" 3 months)? Make the course requirement 16 hours and include passing the Hawaii state bar exam and achieving a minimal black belt level in some martial art as approved by the county police chiefs? Mandate the carrying of pepper/chemical spray, an expandable baton, and a nerf bat?
