This place (Nevada side) is great! It’s our fourth trip here In a little over a year. We’ve been looking at homes in Genoa, Gardnerville,  and the suburbs of Carson City. Really like what we see and are in the final decision stages of pulling up roots and moving to a more “gun friendly” state. Our oldest daughter is only 2 1/2 hours away so that’s nice. Love Lake Tahoe area. Great fishing so a boat will be a must. Tax free state and a new house, gated,  2000sq foot under the roof with a half acre of property runs $250K, full acre $295K. We are leaning towards Genoa though cause it’s in the foothills and is a really nice town. Really excited about the prospect of moving there. Hawaii is nice but politically sucks. 

2.5 hours is a nice distance.  Not close enough to babysit all the time, but close enough to see family on the weekends/holidays.

Nah, won’t be able to do that... but the range is close by

Looks like it.... of course the missus and I will have to discuss it further when we get back but she seems pretty excited about it. There’s two Japanese markets in/around Carson City so that’s a big plus for her. She has a couple of good friends from Japan that live in Gardenerville also. We’re both a little bummed rite now. At my daughters house in Roseville, Kali now. Crossed the state line in Truckee and the liberal stench was very oppressive., bummer....

Think you ought to try a winter there first before making the decision?

I am working on my wife about nothern Arizona, but she is leery of the winters there.

I used to drive from LV to Reno about six times a year. 2.5 hours was a short drive back in the day.

Last February, I drove from Vegas to San Diego and it about killed me so definitely lost my commuting skills living on this island.
