Not to highjack the thread, but I always wondered what life would have been like if Japan did invade and control HI.  My great grandparents came here, IDK the reason why.  So maybe those who left Japan, might be looked down upon?  Or more importantly, we did have family who joined the 442 and was a pineapple warrior (HI national guard).  So maybe Japan would have treated our family as traitors against the empire.

But I guess it does kind of relate to the thread because had Columbus not came to the mainland, eventually someone else would have.  And would HI be under their control?
