Really?

Governor:  "Excise taxes, tourism and property taxes aren't going to solve the budget shortfall.  We are spending money the state doesn't have for rail and protests.  Where else can we find money?"

State Prosecutor: "We tried getting a law passed to make B&B operators pay hotel taxes, the the legislature didn't cooperate.  We got the AirBNB people to send us a list of their top 1,000 Oahu customers, but it'll take time to collect if we ever do, and the cost will be more than it's worth."

City Council Chair:  "Well, I think we can rule out squeezing the Kealohas for anything they owe the city and county."

Lt Gov:  "I've got it!  Let's sue the oil companies for climate change! We probably won't win, but it'll take everyone's attention off the hundreds of thousands we already wasted on Mauna Kea, the Kealoha severance and defense, rail and all our other failures."

All:  "Brilliant!!"

So what happens when the price of gas goes up?

ANyways, it's all our fault. We voted for this green energy by 2045 while fossil fuel is cheap and alt energy is many more times expensive.
We just added to the already expensive Hawaii environment.

Climate change. Homelessness. It's all a money grab - redistributing wealth from middle class to the no-class, no-like work class and special interests.

Big question:

Which state uses the most fossil fuel for electricity generation?

That would be Hawaii.

Maybe we need to sue ourselves for BURNING so much fossil fuel?  The people, businesses and government of Hawaii KNEW they were affecting the climate, which is why the state has been pushing us to use alternative energy sources.

Imagine how much fuel is burned flying tourists and business personnel to/from the islands.  How much is burned by residents traveling to/from the mainland? to/from Japan?  to/from Las Vegas?

Now imagine if that fuel was never sold to Hawaii by the "evil" fossil fuel corporations, out of a commitment to saving the planet.

I can imagine the boating industry hiring a few more people.   

Of all the states to bemoan their past use of energy by blaming the fuel producers.

In the meantime the state/City/County are not solving any of these problems with all the money they are grabbing. 

We have 1 refinery here.  What happens if they shut down?  Our cost of fuel will increase 10 fold.  Our law makers never thinking 3 steps ahead, but instead in the heat of the moment.

When I saw the story on the news last night I couldn't believe Caldwell was stupid enough to poke the sleeping bear.

We need a class action lawsuit by Honolulu residents for the high cost of living caused by the City and State.

Can we sue Japan for driving up the cost of housing when they started buying up properties in the late 80s/early 90s?
