New firearms restriction in Honolulu (maybe all of Hawaii??)
« on: April 23, 2020, 09:42:02 AM »
Hello Hawaii Firearms Owners,
My special order handgun just arrived at my local gunshop.
Now I can get its information and go to the Police Station for (another) "Permit to acquire".

I just discovered the HPD is requiring online reservations for the permit application process.

The next available reservation is FIVE weeks from today.
(of course, then another two week wait to pick up the permit)

THEN, I have to make another online reservation to register my new handgun (another 5 weeks? The State Law says 72hours...)

I would write my State Representative and Mayor to complain, but they are too busy passing new gun control laws to care...

I do not violate any Constitutional Federal, State, or County laws.
But there are many ways to get around your problem legally.
The first is to never purchase a gun in this state, from a dealer.
That is as far as I will recommend on this public forum.

Please write to your reps both house and senate and let them know of that the law says 3 days.  And HPD's offical statement is that they will "work with gun owners".  Which means they will look the other way, but if they really wanted to, they can arrest you.  They then will say that they are overwhelmed with gun buyers.  BS, they said that they're only taking in 3 people on hour.  When prior to Corona, they were able to handle more than that.  At 2:30pm, I've seen them process 6 people and finish by 3pm which is their closing time.

If you have the inkling, hire a good firearms attorney to sue the county for deprivation of rights. You have a good leg to stand on, but will be a long road and you'll have your firearm by then.

Try Alan Beck, Firearms Policy or Gun Owners of America. The NRA will just ignore you completely

I’ve not gone on to the online system, but can you make more than one appointment at a time?
No one is coming, it’s up to us.

Legislation should never be about depriving law abiding citizens of something, but rather taking those things away from criminals.

I'm a life member NRA and just voted for new directors.
Hopefully the La Pierre stuff will become a thing of the past.
I'm also GOA and FICO(sp? I have the "T" shirt) member.
But by the time it gets through the courts you'll likely be dead from old age.

Im a lifetime member, and when ever they were calling to have me make a contribution monetaryi would ask them how come nothing is being done about the proposed rap back system(at the time it wasn't finalized) and no one knew what I was talking about. I have lost faith in them imo.
Im a recoil junkie

A wave of Pandemic newbies running smack into the HPD wall of BS might be just what we need to finally get some of those rights back

I'm gonna assume that we will recruit more on our side next session.  It can't hurt us because MDA getting denied due to no safety class and 5 week wait.

Current wait time is 8 weeks.  6 weeks for next appt and 2 weeks to process after that.
