Department of Justice sides with plaintiffs fighting Ige’s 14-day travel quar. (Read 8351 times)

As much as I like wikipedia, it is user based so garbage in, garbage out so to speak.

I can recall the episode but am unable to find it and am tempted at (my own peril of persecution) to contact Trekkies.

I have found several references to the episode/scene I recall so vividly in written form.

I  started watching ST in B &W back in the day and even in old age, long term memory is better than short term.
Kirk, McCoy, Scotty, Sulu, and Chekov are  in a busted landing craft with no means of repair  so all of the command officers tell McCoy about their experiences with the test while awaiting certain death.
Chekov ejects everybody and blows up his starship destroying the klingon enemy's. All those he sent off in escape pods also died from the nuclear explosion of all the ships,
Sulu chickened out and did not enter the zone to rescue and I forgot what Scotty did.
In the end, Spock rescued them all fror burning up in re-ntry to some planet by beaming them aboard.

I had to have seen it as I highly doubt I would have read a written version at 8-10 yrs old

That was one of the experiences in a Star Trek novel called The Kobayashi Maru published in 1989,

The movie Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan was released in 1982.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_II:_The_Wrath_of_Khan

According to the Wiki page for the novel:

Quote
Many details about the scenario itself come from the film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

Some video games were released after that containing KM references and "tests", like Star Trek: Starfleet Academy

Sorry.

Other than iggy being an idiot, ironic how he immediately came out with no mandatory quarantine come August 1, but why ruin the entire tourist season by waiting another month to enact controls that would work now ?
Also noticed no mention of DOJ / lawsuit in the news at all.

IDGARA if threads go off topic.  All fun for me.

FIge about sums up what I think of him.  Can't stand him and especially since I know a lot of the background of how he setup his leadership team.

Actually, the point of the test was to see how the student reacted to stress when faced with a futile situation.  Do they freeze?  Do they follow the right protocols?  Do they panic?

They all die in the scenario, but Star Fleet wanted them to die correctly.    :geekdanc:

In one of the books, the Ferengi, Nog beat the simulation by bargaining with the Klingons.

FIge. . .

Personally, I was fine with the 14-day quarantine.  That said, good to see him under the microscope for stuff like this.  One can wish it would extend to 2a, but not holding my breath. . .

I was kind of on the fence on this one. On the one hand I did believe it was necessary and the right thing to do, but on the other hand I question how it can be constitutional to revoke someone's freedoms without either a positive test or the person showing symptoms.

If everyone just did the right thing then it wouldn't be an issue but people not all gonna do that so then we either enforce it or we let them risk spreading the disease.
