As someone who works at our level level 1 trauma, few things everyone should know before using or buying a tourniquet.

1. Tourniquet on = you are knowingly sacrificing that limb
,2. Write time on applied
3. NEVER take off without surgeon/NP/MD instruction
4. Remember that it needs to be above the persons systolic blood pressure, aka, you shouldbt see any blood flow to distal extremity.
5. Only apply as last resort (see 1st point). A lot of small arteries and mostly venous vessels can be stopped with good pressure. If wound doesnt slow down within 5 min of tight pressure OR blood is spurting at high velocity for extended period. then yes a tourniquet is your best bet. But if you can save a limb without costing a life. Its a no brainer
6. know the difference between arterial and venous bleeding source
7. In civilian life, quick clot is not a great alternative or all that helpful. Creates a shit box of mess in the wound bed.
8. Buy a well reviewed well tested one from a reliable brand. Nothing worse than trynna save someones lifee with mediocre equipment

One thing I learned it that it takes more effort than I thought to properly apply a TQ. Used to trading with them in a couple of different classes. Had a TQ applied to my leg a couple of times. Took a lot.

Second is properly staging of the TQ. I see some folks carrying them around with the shrink wrap still on it. Valuable seconds...

Very important especially dealing with liberals and demoncrats.... >:D

If you want to cut off the oxygen to their brains, you'll have to move it to around their hips ...
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.
