Need people to wave signs for Kevin Mcdonald
« on: July 18, 2020, 08:43:01 PM »

Please come downtown and wave signs with McDonald this Monday and Friday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm (and maybe Wednesday too)
You can also meet with him and ask him questions about his platform or the campaign.
I hope you can come out and join us!
There will be good people and a fun time!

He is competing against Karl Rhodes. he who either comes up with anti 2a bills, allows them a committee spot, or supports them.  We need him out and need to support McDonald who is pro 2a.

McDonald was at the floor vote and sat on our side. The vote where chief Ballard and 12 of her brass showed up to support the anti 2a bill.

Spread the word and invite who u want. More important, tell those who live in the district to vote McDonald.

I’m becoming clinically undepressed and thinking about beginning it all.

I am curious what lessons were learned from this campaign. Was it worth it to run as a Democrat and not as a Republican? How many speaking engagements, pr releases, door knockers, sign wavings, etc were there? I have not heard anything about KM except for this website and the coverage in Civil Beat. Everyone here agrees we need to replace Rhoads but the question is how?

When we went to sign wave, had about 12 of us.  I havent seen any sign wavers for Rhodes or posters.  I've seen a few from kevin in the area.  I havent seen any fb post or articles from Rhodes either.

Guess the residents of the area enjoy the way things are going and heading toward.  When you have a business across the street of a police station having a dash and grab theft, you know there's a problem.

Green lives in the district, I bet he voted for Rhodes.

The high voter turnouts usually benefits incumbents because of existing name recognition.  Mayors race was a big deal so everyone were motivated to vote.  Because of the very high voter turn out this Primary, it didn’t go well for us.

AOC got in because by defeating the incumbent during the primary election when no one bothered to vote.  Everyone voted for the Democrat ticket anyway in the General.

Even if it didn’t work, going for Rhode’s seat during the primary as a Democrat had a better chance than going in the General as a Republican.

There are other things that needed to be done besides sign waving.
I think, therefore I am armed.

it sucks that our guy lost, but that's on us.

our guy got 1,302 votes, versus the other guy collected 8,250.  and the other guy didn't even campaign.

but getting 1,302 votes for a new guy, no voter recognition, not so bad, yeah, consolation prize.  Those were hard-earned votes in enemy territory.  JMHO.

In four more years Chinatown will be such a hell hole that they will be begging for new leadership. Look how far it has fallen in just the past five.

I've been trying to help Kevin through the election and he got what he deserved.  He did very bad compared to past opponents.  I don't think he did anything except facebook posts and a few days of signwaving.  Also not organized.  I've been pushing him to get volunteers, create vlogs, tour the district, and talk to the small businesses.  He assumed it would be an easy race and a lot of anti Rhoades voters would make him win.

Kevin is a good guy and inexperienced so hopefully he'll learn his lesson and do better in 2022.  It's also the communities fault too as no one supported him when he asked for help and he doesn't seem to have gotten donations.
