Are huntings areas that don’t have a “popular” tourist trail still open?

wondering if the pearl city hunting area is open.

I called DLNR about Makua and they said it's open.  They joked that it was still ok to hike with a gun cuz you're getting food.  I'm sure all the other areas are still open for now.  My friend heard gunshots in the Waianae valley hunting area but that doesn't mean much.

Thanks C!

Waianae gunshots :-)

I was talking to Paul H last month and will be seeing him again in a few weeks.

I haven’t talked to Tim A at work yet.

Take care, Tim

DOFAW has been slammed with calls. They are concerned it will be dangerous with so many hunters out there at the same time, and official advice is to stay home. Probably a good idea to wear loudest colors so you don't get shot. Happened to my uncle when he did a call and some yahoo took a blind shot through cover.

How many times did your uncle have to return fire before the yahoo figured out it wasn't a pig shooting at him?

I always wear an orange shirt and orange hat.

I guess I’m throwing away my hog caller

When I was in HS, our group was bs’ing with another  hunting group we bumped into - one of the kids in that other  group took shots at a guy in a 3rd hunting group.

Lessons learned:
Don’t wear camouflage
Don’t volunteer to be the pusher
Sing or whistle if I have to be the pusher
