Where are these incidents taking place? Being that it is illegal to be drinking in public parks and beaches.

There are bars all over the place and ABC's sell alcohol up till 11:45 and it seems like a lot of the guys think they can get hammered on leave and walk around with open containers like it's Bourbon Street, so the problem isn't really confined to any one place. That said with the MP's out last night it seemed like everyone was on much better behavior.
No one loves the Third World like the people who refuse to live there.

All excellent points. Obviously the kid knew how to handle himself and probably had some idea of what he was getting into. Not that it makes it right or wrong but I'm in the same school of thought as you about laying low and letting the danger pass/force escalation as a last resort.

The two brothers got out in the morning and all charges dropped. Later that night after I left some other drunk military guys started something again trying to force their way into a closed social gathering but this time the odds were a little more even and 3 guys got ko'd before the other ones realized they messed up and dragged their friends away apologizing profusely. They really should have a warning at the bases about why it's not a good idea to get drunk and start up with local guys. These aren't two minute brawls with haymakers and swearing. They just connect once and it's lights out.

Good to see some MP's patrolling the streets tonight, too.
Christ, here we go again.  "Local" isn't some race of Supermen, and locals aren't better or worse fighters than the average young fella from any other state.  Congratulations, a bunch of locals beat up some military guys.  That doesn't mean anything; any more than it would mean anything if five or ten local guys started a brawl at the Marine Corps Enlisted Club--they'd get their asses handed to them by virtue of being outnumbered.

(Modified to more clearly convey what I was getting at.)

Please, tell me more about the Hawaiian Master Race, and how badass they are!

This has nothing to do with Hawaiians.
I venture to guess that this knucklehead isn't one drop of Hawaiian.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

I suppose you're right; I should have used the term local, I guess.  I just lol when people act like being from Hawaii automatically makes you some sort of uber-hardass who could effortlessly take down a whole platoon of Marines from other, lesser, states.  (Especially if the platoon is full of those little white rabbits hvybarrels is so contemptuous of.)

Corrected per heavy's own post above.
