For those who say gun laws are OK because you're grandfathered in... (Read 3221 times)

So P80s were banned last year, but had a retro active date (grandfather).

Well this year, a bill is making its way to pass that removes the retro active date (grandfather). HB1366.

So if you're 1 of those guys who say a mag ban is OK cause you're grandfathered in, what makes you think they won't remove it later?

And lawsuits are expensive and can take years.  So we need to stop these bills before it gets turned into law.

Same goes with parts or things "that don't apply to me, so I don't care".

Like bump stocks. The original HI bill also included "anything that can increase the rate of fire". So a lighter BCG, lighter trigger, stiffer buffer spring, etc...If it wasn't for all the testimony, those things would have stayed in the bill.

good points.

but, I think part of the problem is, not enough gun-owners read this forum,  the word is not getting out there.  We're "preaching to the choir", we're just talking amongst ourselves to our own limited sympathetic like-minded audience.

no, I don't have a solution.

maybe a 2aHawaii flyer posted on the wall behind the cash register of every gun, ammo store?  fluorescent green, best eye catching color.

I saw a person at the range advocating.  That might be the best bet for firearm owners.  One place 99% of people eventually go.

Try the bulletin boards at Safeway, etc. too.

As for at ranges, especially now based on ammo prices, owners aren't going. Myself included. I could live with $100 for a day at the range among 9mm, 45 and 5.56, but now it can be over $500. Switching to airsoft for practice. 5000 BBs cost me $15 and the pistol and 2 extra magazines shipped from S&W was $200. ePowersports has the T4E trainers for $200 and .43 cal rubber BBs too if you want that route.

But we can't be the "militant" type, we need to be on the positive conversations of supporting kupuna and the single moms, etc. Hold ZOOM "Town Halls" with HiFiCo, HDF and HRA, get some of the lawsuit defendants up there to explain their positions, especially the women.

Hifico does do fliers at gun stores. We all need to also talk to our friends who are gun owners. And tell them to tell their friends. Coconut wireless.

Keep in mind that the purpose of HIFICO isn't to do everything nor to lead.  It's up to you, yes you, gun clubs, and gun stores to do that.

I merely show you what's possible, set the example, help with coordination, help with training, and support.  That's all that HIFICO does.  It's up to you to make it happen.

Are there any companies that make 80%  parts with a serial number so there are no legal issues?

Other than the fact the government is calling an 80% block of material a firearm in order to treat it as one.

They are ignoring their own laws and making new ones that change the definitions.

I'd bet the firearm laws and ATF guidance memos are going to be more complicated than the IRS rules in a year or two.

I'm sure you can find someone who does. Probably not the manufacturer though.

Actually, most retailers do offer serialized 80% kits, for the people who need them by law.  Easier if you want a professionally engraved receiver when finished.

Many states allow 80% receivers to be completed without a serial#, but will require a serial# if you transfer it.
