Gen Discussion forum is supposed be for gun related subjects only.  Pet peeve of mine is this forum title should be changed. The term General Discussion leads one to believe anything in “general” can be posted here.  But I am not the owner or a moderator, so carry on.

My first stimulus check was sent to my account at Bank of Hawaii. Received the first week available. Started receiving SS in April 2020. I left the islands April 1, 2020. My Bank of Hawaii account was closed on March 31, 2020.

The second stimulus was also sent to my now closed account at Bank of Hawaii. It took over a month from the time they figured out that the account was closed until the time they sent me a paper check. Where did they get my new address from to send the check? SSA of course. Then why did they not get my account information from the SSA so they could just direct deposit it? Over a month later after receiving my paper check, I received a letter from the IRS that they tried to deposit the stimulus to my account and it was closed and that they were going to send me a paper check.

On March 1, 2021 I electronically filed my taxes with my new account information. The IRS sent me an email acknowledging the acceptance of my return on the same day. Two weeks after receiving my tax return and new account info, they sent the third stimulus to the same closed account that the IRS knows is closed and acknowledged is closed in their letter to me regarding the second stimulus. So now it is here a month later and the IRS webpage says they tried to deposit the stimulus to my closed account and they will now send me a paper check to my new address they got from the SSA. But they still couldn’t get my account info from the SSA or from my electronically filed tax return?

Now a month after they tried to deposit my money into an account they know has been closed almost a year, and they have stated they are going to send me a paper check, they will now accept my new account information from the SSA? The SSA has had my new info for a year and the IRS has had my new account info for almost a month now. Yet, here we are. No wonder our taxes are so high. Look at all the government waste we have to pay for. 🤦‍♂️
