Search and Rescue Conference (May 20-22)
This is an interesting class to attend for community search and rescue.  The county has been pushing for volunteers to train and join the Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT).  These teams would help their communities during emergencies like hurricanes and earthquakes, to rescue people nearby, when first responders aren't available.  I was a Search and Extraction team leader in the National Guard and used to do this for my job long ago and want to get back into it.
This conference should be a good experience if you have done this in the past or want to look into volunteer in your community.  I don't know much about this conference, but look into it.

Learned more about this. Its hosted by a Statewide organization, Oahu/Maui/Kauai Search & Rescue. They're volunteers that look for missing persons in the wilderness using volunteers, thermal cameras, drones, intel analysis, repel, etc. Joining the org is a big committment: 6 month probation status, online training classes, and attending in-person classes. Many of the workshops taught at the conference are those required to join the org.
I haven't heard back from the org yet, but I believe anyone can attend the classes and it's for outreach and fundraising in the community.
This is similar to CERT, except CERT is more for urban areas and inside buildings, while SAR is for outside wilderness areas.

This video goes over what they do.
