Purchasing second hand rifle
« on: July 21, 2022, 04:14:45 PM »
Just wondering will the person need to be present when putting there gun under my name. I was told seller doesn't need to be present. I know I'm going have them take a pic of my permit for there documents. But just wondering if they will need to meet me at the police station. Thanks in advance.

Seller does not need to be present, seller dosnt even need to see your permit.

You are required to have one, but unlike a pistol, they are not required to sign it.

Also, you might want to reconsider letting them copy/photo it.

Your permit contains more PII then your drivers license. There’s no reason for them to have a copy of it.

They don’t need to be there.

No need to let them photo your permit. As London said, too much to redact.
Good idea for them to write your permit number on the notice of sale though.

I found two sales I made, one in 2013 and one in 15, apparently didn’t register the rifles and they were still in my name. (Both were 2A members)
I submitted the notices of sale recently ( only years late) with names and permit numbers so HPD should have all their info. Hope those guys got the phone call.
Seller supposed to notify HPD of sale.
Buyer supposed to register.
