14 people in this alleged theft ring were arrested for stealing catalytic converters nationwide, most being shipped to locations on the East Coast.

It's believed they stole somewhere around 44,000 converters which are worth an estimated $22M.

Back in the day, we removed them for extra horsepower.   The early ones really choked up the exhaust.

Could have made some money, but kept them in case some smog law required inspections.
