HPD computer down...May not be able to register online
« on: July 29, 2022, 03:45:46 PM »
Picked up my handgun today from my dealer and was told that I may not be able to register online.   From HPD's website "Due to the high volume of requests for the firearms online registration process and the permit to acquire email process, the online system is experiencing technical difficulties and it is currently being worked on to fix the issues.

If you are using either online process, please call our personnel to confirm your online request was received.
Thank you for your patience while we work to resolve the delay with the online process. "

so if I got the automatically-generated email response that says HPD has received my online registration request, "Your firearms registration is being processed and may take up to five business days to process", 10 days ago, I should be GTG?  I'm just waiting on Hawaiian time?  It should be getting ripe pretty soon.  if we're only counting "business days", i'm only a couple over.   I'll give it another week-or-so before I really start to worry.

Denying constitutional rights and delaying permits to a scared and pissed off population in the middle of a crime wave...

What could possibly go wrong?

I’m becoming clinically undepressed and thinking about beginning it all.

I registered online on July 17 and have not yet received my registration. I called the firearms division on Monday to see what was going on. They told me that the system is being overwhelmed because of all the online applications. They also checked for my registration and did not receive it. They basically told me that even though you get the automated email response it doesn’t mean that it actually went through. They asked me to resubmit online and check the next day which I did and they did receive it that time. When I spoke to them on Tuesday they said they were working on Fridays submissions which puts them at least 4 days behind. So if you’ve been waiting longer than that I would call just to make sure they actually received it.

I just got mine, 5 business days.  I think they went off the resubmitted ones, instead of the ones from before the "crash".  I'm good now.
