Misleading Stories

The headline...
===========
New York City man terrorizes McDonald's customers in axe-wielding rampage
==========
"A man was captured on video in a New York City McDonald’s terrorizing patrons and chasing them around with an ax after being pummeled by a group of men following a verbal altercation."
============

This is how I read the sentence:
1-- A man got into an argument with a group of men
2--The man got beat up by the group
3--The man pulled out a hatchet and threatened the group.
4--The man was arrested
====================

The story does not really mention anything about what happened to the group that beat up the guy.
But the headline says the guy that got beat up is an ax-wielding terrorist.

see how there is always 2 sides to a story?

What, Me Worry?

You observed the same thing I did.  And probably many, many more people observed the same.  No mention whatsoever about what led to those men pummeling that ax-wielding guy.  What caused that action in the first place?

It really seems that clicks are more important.  Our country is doomed if we continue on this path.

There is so much bullsh*t click bait videos out there.  It is sickening.
Sometimes you gotta know when to save your bullets.

Traffic Advisory: Catastrophic vehicular failure on H1 east bound blocking lane.

Reality: Person is changing a flat tire and because they got rid of shoulder lanes, person is taking up far right lane.

All this spectacular news stories nests with the victim mentality, TikTok conversations. Overused words to grab attention: "Actually" "Honestly". i.e. "I actually went down to McDonald's in person and honestly, made an order for me... myself."

Better vid shows him striking 1st and getting hit back and taking it and not fighting back. He took the punches to the face like a boss. Then the 2 hitters walked away. He then walks to go  into his backpack and takes and axe out. At this point, he could walk away as the attackers were well away.

He chose to return with the axe.

Threatens everyone in there, including a girl who was sitting at a booth the entire time and the guy who was trying to help him

He seems mentally off.

He has a backpack with an axe in NYC.  More than likely homeless, which makes it better than even odds he's "off".

....
The point of my post was not whether or not the ax guy is right or wrong.
The point was to make members aware of the way a story is presented.
I should start a thread on clickbait headlines. It would be huge.
The whole internet is becoming  National Enquirer tabloid mock journalism.

Click bait is the business model for all main stream media outlets as well as most small-time outlets.

Was this the guy?

Clearly a biological weapons expert

If you allow government to break the law for an "emergency" they will create "emergencies" to break the law.
