Is it therapeutic to bitch and moan ?
« on: September 27, 2022, 12:08:29 AM »
There is so much bitching and moaning about crud that no one can change or is not willing to organize to change on this forum.
Real nowhere men making all their no where plans for nobody. ( to quote the Beatles.)
Is it therapeutic blowing into the echo chamber ? (Might be. If it is keep doing it.)

Tip of the hat to Zippz, CMO and London for real activism.
Groveler and RSN,  other solution, fall off the grid and look out for number one. (Tip my hat to that too.)

If you’re not signed up with HIFICO then you’re just blowing smoke.

Personal opinion of course.

Macsak also does a lot.

This is the issue and why we are where we are today.  I became a gun owner in 2016, so this is all speculation.  But multiple reasons why we are here.

1) Apathy.  How many times have I talked to older guys who said "my testimony won't make a difference".

2) Lack of internet to spread the word. This is understandable up until a certain point.  Even submitting testimony online is so much quicker and easier.  And add in spreading the word.  Instead of just the coconut wireless and someone actually going to the Capitol or calling their senator/rep to see if a hearing is taking place.

3) Lack of other grass roots orgs.  Prior to HIFICO, there was minimal activity.  They are like the QB calling the plays.  Prior to HIFICO, there was like 5 of us at the hearings. Devon from Bushido, Macsak, just to name a few.  By the time I began attending, HRA wasn't present.  But I heard they were often there consistently, this is under the old leadership of Harvey.

4) This one grinds my gears the most.  Many gun stores and their employees don't do much.  I read thru the testimonies for every bill and make a mental note who submits or who shows up to hearings.  The fact that this is their business and they rely on our sales, any anti law passed will affect them.  Also refer to #2, where it takes seconds to submit a simple "oppose/support" online.

It's to the point where I am more direct with people who don't submit anything.  Because babying them didn't get them to submit anything.  So now it's like if there's a mag ban bill and they tell me #1 above, I'll just tell them give me all their mags cause they don't deserve to keep them.  They have a saying when it comes to working done for org's: 10% of the people do 90% of the work.  Or something like that.

On a positive note, we are growing and improved a lot since before the creation of HIFICO.  For the last mag ban bill, we got almost 1500 oppose testimonies.  IMO it should have been 10,000.

So if you see Zipps or London at the range, tell them thank you.  If you can afford it, give them a box of ammo or something.  And if you see them at the bar, buy them a beer.  You guys get where I'm going with this.

I know everyone gets burnt out at some point.  I have a friend who I won't name who was about to stop doing what he does to help.  Until he spoke to Dan Goo who told him what's up and to keep at it.  This gave him new energy to keep going.

it's called the 80/20 rule
20% of the people do 80% of the work

i've found that most of the time, it's 99/1...
