I guess my point is that we are constantly playing catch up and being responsive to the hairbrained ideas of the Hawaii chiefs, gov, and leg. Whereas we should be ousting these legislators via election.
There will be a second round of public comments for HPD that will end up delaying the process again. The Level Ii/Type II holster stuff was bait that they put in the rules to drum up a request for changes. HPD is leading the charge because they actually have chief created rules. Also, it is no conincidence that Rhoades and Lee are trying to give HPD extra $ from citations. This is the carrot to get HPD to do its bidding for CCW. Once the leg or mayor put in place these sensitive place restrictions, HPD is gonna spend tons of time trying to dirty up CCW holders. Child rapists will be set free and CCW holders who crossed 2 feet over and invisible line will be hammered. Everyone knows HPD and the AG office monitors 2ahawaii. I can imagine some semi constitutional version of nypds stop and frisk being used to mess with people.
We have a few more weeks to see how the 2nd Circuit case plays out and probably 6 months to see what ends up happening. 2nd circuit and 9th circuit have same anti 2a playbook. The leg and mayor will be back with more restrictions by then and will use the same process all over again.
Honestly, I would be scared to carry in Hawaii. HPD and Leg will be out to get everyone and I can only imagine that they will make CCW holders obtain insurance. They will find the highest policy limit offered then require something above that to screw people.
So how do you counter? You leverage 2a supporters to be involved and provide other forms of testimony not related to 2a to HPD or the Leg and CC. HPD wants to spend all this time on CCW, what they doing for Kupunas being hurt in home invasion, what they doing about illegal handicap parkers, etc. The Leg, Rhoades, and Lee always run their mouth about CCW but what about poor Keiki being molested and dying in foster care? The mayor has a $12 billion tax pit called rail that should be attacked every day, pot holes the size of minivans all over. Find something you are interested in thay the government is doing. If its not up to snuff or you see gaps, bitch about it via letters and testimony.
