I think there is more to leakage than vibration or physical damage. I lost many items from leakage that just sit around going nowhere. Eg. Motion sensor lights screwed to the wall or Dillon low primer alert buzzers.

For AA and AAA, I've switched to lithium.  Haven't had leakage since.  I also noticed that stuff that sit for a while without use tend to leak.  Had many old school Maglites ruined because of battery leaks.   :grrr:
