New affidavit - bring to HPD when you get permit?
« on: January 28, 2024, 07:17:06 PM »
For those that applied for permits at the end of 2023 and had to get new affidavits

I assume that people just need to show the new affidavit when they go to pickup their permit

Ie.  HPD STARTED the permit process  WITHOUT the new affidavit….. so I assume they will COMPLETE the paperwork WITHOUT the affidavit…..they just won’t give me the permit if I don’t have the affidavit.

But HPD logic is interesting!!

i thought you showed the affidavit when you applied for the permit, they take it in back and xerox or scan it, and return to you.  part of your packet.

one time, the officer forgot to make a copy, so they told me to bring it with when I came down to pickup the permit, so couldn't get it via pdf email, and after they copied it, they gave me the permit then and there.

nowadays, who knows.

The end of 2023 was weird.

Because I was applying for permit in 2023 but getting the permit in 2024…..my existing affidavit would not be accepted.

At the time, HPD still didn't have list of qualified “trainers” that could give the new training and the new affidavits…. so they let all of us apply without the unobtainable new affidavit.

I think the guy at the window told me to just bring the new affidavit when I picked up my permit.

But because everything is new, I’m second guessing if even the guy at the counter knew all the quickly evolving changes.

Not to hijack, but when you apply for a CCW, you also need another affidavit that YOU must make that states u are aware of sensitive places and such.  Which has to be notarized and HPD doesn't provide this. You must look up the verbiage in SB1230.
