My ex was addicted to primetime comedies.  I preferred watching a movie in the time it took to watch 3 or 4 half hour comedies which rarely had anything new in their plots -- most were 100% predictable.

Having said that, I wound up watching Cheers, Home Improvement and Roseanne when my ex controlled the TV remote.

Cheers had pretty good writing, the characters were all unique, and the situations weren't recycle bits from other shows.

i'm sure George is having a frosty mug and trading jokes with Andy Kaufman and Robin Williams.
