DC Police Commander accused of intentionally falsifying crime data.

it's alleged that when a major crime is being investigated, a high ranking officer will show up and order the responding officers to downgrade the charged crimes in their official reports.  So, a shooting would be an assault, a car jacking is a theft, etc.

If the crimes are being classified as lesser offenses, then there's no evidence of falsifying the data -- except of course the facts of each case that should have been a more severe charge.

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

Add in how many reports were talked out of being made.

I know a few here who were talked out of making a report and witnessed 1 myself.  They had to ask for a supervisor.

Many years ago I looked at the crime map of just the Vegas strip. There were  4 rapes the entire year.
