Cops asked to leave Denny's while OC in plainclothes.

"According to WTVR, even after they explained that they were police officers and had their badges displayed and police radios on the table, the manager said that guns weren't allowed in the restaurant no matter what. She said they had to secure the firearms in the car or leave. How insane is that?"

That's how ignorant people are about firearms....

If I owned a shop of some sort, I'd tell HPD the same until the Chief allowed civilians to have permits.

I think this was more of a manager screw up, than Denny's policy. The second manager overruled the first manager and said they could stay and Denny's public statement said they do permit LEOs to dine with their firearms. The primary reason many restaurants offer police discounted meals is to have a police presence to deter crime and minimize the riffraff from frequenting their establishments. Really has nothing to do with the economics of making a few bucks off of cops meals.

That was funny.  I'm not sure it was appropriate, but it smacks sweetly of swift and terrible justice.

Again, I ask my universal question:  When are the ten jerks who voted for the ban up for re-election?

Not that anyone in Hawaii or Colorado would know, but that's the question that should be asked at those kinds of meetings anywhere.  Might be a good idea for us to collect that information before the meetings.

"Mr. Coucilmember, you're up for re-election on XXX date, is that correct?"

Might throw a crimp into their thinking.

i totally agree. i was thinking of making a thread with all the legislatures names, email, contact info all in one thread, to help everyone out.  could also include that data, when they are up for reelection.

On a separate note, the comments in that link i provided talked about a recall vote.  Are you familiar with that?

I have already made an excel spreadsheet of their information, but I DON'T have the reelection dates. Where can I find those?

Edited for spelling

im not sure, and not so sure they would publicly post that information so willingly.

Hahahahahah. Imagine if they had numerous calls to their office from random people asking when their(legislature) term is up and when they are up for reelection again.  They would be all  :wtf:

Anywho, for legislatures/representatives, dont we have to wait till elections again?  I think terry was talking about city council members, per my article.

Well, I posed that as a universal question whenever a political doob shows he wants to violate our civil right --city council or whatever.  I was thinking in terms of making their sphincters shrink if the question is asked right after they do that.

I'd love to ask this question sometimes:  "Mr.  <politician>, do  you feel it should be public policy to trample on peoples' Civil Rights?"

Then you get the babble-de-gook from them.

Then you ask pointedly, "Mr. <politiican> when are you up for re-election, sir?"

Hopefully they have a skip of the heartbeat and the aforementioned sphincter-shrink.  You know, like when somebody jumps out at you and hollers "Boo!"

That's what I meant when I said, "will give them pause."

However, I'm always a trifle uncomfortable, being haole, commenting on Hawaiian local politics, so I toned it down.

It doesn't hurt to remind them that it is a Civil Right and they can't make us "sit in the back of the bus."

I believe at one time they used to call that "prejudice."  "Pre-judgement," get it?
