Hearing scheduled for 2/7 on 2/4 - allowing for all of 2 days to prepare testimony for submission by the 24 hour deadline.

Passed unanimously by the committee with one member excused.

All testimony for the bill was from civil defense types. What little testimony there was from anyone else who caught this bill was in opposition.

The civil defense guys want this for some reason. I'm guessing that it funnels more money into their coffers.

And I'm guessing that is a good thing. While we may not have a serious threat from terrorists, using it as an excuse to create tighter unity between the various civil defense services isn't a terrible thing. Hawaii's civil defense is second to none in the world and if they want tighter inter-agency integration, which is what a DHS does, then I'd be inclined to agree with them. It might not be the best thing to do but I don't know that it is a wrong thing to do.

So the State DHS would stand for Da Hawaiian Souljahs and have MP's (Moke Patrol) working the FCU (False Crack Unit)?

Everytime the GOV. is expanded, it WILL be used against us citizens. That is their nature-on either side of the political coin. This is NOT a good thing. I have family, a senior pastor that were put in internment camps during WWII. I have family whose guns were confiscated twice in these islands. Once during the overthrow and once after Pearl Harbor. The Gov. is no longer FOR the people. It will create an elite block of people who will rule the rest. Sorry I missed this one. This is not good. Dang !!!

Soon they will be wantonly stopping traffic for all manner of frivolous repairs and inhibiting our freedoms. The Prewar Japanese American and their families are a very large constituency here in HI and are ripe for bringing them behind our 2A protection efforts.  We need someone from that community to do some Political outreach on our behalf.

The internees and their immediate children know all to well the pains of more Govt. No way should that ever be provided and in Arizona I believe the state doesn't even require registration, but another country is completely insane.
