How to get new copies of gun registration papers?
« on: May 21, 2013, 01:56:27 AM »
Dumb stuff happens,...
Left my gun registration papers and gun class paper in a nylon zip lock bag in my cargo shorts thinking I might go to the gun shop shopping.  It didnt happen and probably why I forgot I had them in my shorts as i had to run a lot of errands that day.
Sad to say, i left my papers in my pocket and it got thrown in the wash.
I have 2 registration papers that have the gun id numbers somewhat legible on the registration papers, and the others are ok but all of them are wrinkled as the went thru the dryer too.

Do I go down to hpd and request for new gun/long gun registration papers and come back in 2 weeks to pick them up?

Long Gun Permit. Take it down to HPD with the washed copy and they will issue you a new one.

Handgun Affidavit  You need to have the person/company who issued it make you a new one. If they are no longer around youre SOL.

Any gun registration that are destroyed you can go to HPD and they will give you copies.

That's why they say for Hand Gun Affidavit....sometimes taking the hunters ed course works out better because if you ever lose your card, it's already in the system for life where as if you took the safety handgun course from someone and you need a copy but can't find the person...then like they say "SOL" need to signup and take the course again and pay!  The hunters ed card if you ever lose is....is a small nominal fee but you are not required to take the course again!

I have BOTH so I should be good!  Another thing is to laminate the card and affidavit....just so it last for a long time vs putting it in a ziplock or a plastic sleeve!

If you laminate the affidavit "they" may not be able to verify the notary seal/mark and may diasallow the affidavit. They won't accept a copy of your affidavit for similar reasons.

My handgun affidavit nortary seal is stamped vs embossed!  I've submitted numerous times to HPD with no issues!
