Little tyke goes through a pistol competition.

:D
I do believe that the radical and crazy notion that the Founders meant what they said, is gradually soaking through the judicial system.

No one is coming, it’s up to us.

Legislation should never be about depriving law abiding citizens of something, but rather taking those things away from criminals.

That's what I was thinking, too !

I was kind of curious about the legal aspects of a minor "possessing" a handgun in matches like this.  Does parental permission override all the funky statutes about it?  Does the parent have to "supervise" the child?  Or does the scorer legally assume that responsibility?  (My "kids" were shooting handguns long before any such laws, so I don't know what the scoop is on that nowadays.)

This is California's law:

Quote
Minimum age for possession: California law prohibits minors from possessing a handgun.
Exceptions to this prohibition include situations where a parent or legal guardian is present or has consented to the possession.
In addition, minors may possess handguns when engaged in certain recreational sports, including, but not limited to,
competitive shooting; agricultural, ranching, or hunting activities; and any motion picture, television, or video production,
or entertainment or theatrical events, the nature of which involves the use of a firearm.

There is no minimum age to possess rifles and shotguns in California, although federal age restrictions still apply.

If California has that, the other states are more than likely similar.  Colorado, though, is trying to really foul up whether anyone can use a gun of yours without (1) background check and (2) legal transfer of ownership (to force #1).  Unless you are physically present, as owner, you can't lend guns to anyone ever (handgun and long gun).  Wonderful Colorado!!
