Various air guns, mostly in .22.  Can plink in the backyard and ammo is cheap and plentiful.

And they are excellent trainers, as the hold is far more critical on a powerful spring gun than a powder burner.

When I think "plinker" I think .22.  And I have a variety of those, long and short.  I make it a policy to always bring a .22 with me if I'm going to the rifle or pistol ranges.  But which one, which one??  I have a hard time deciding every single trip!  I guess if I had a go-to gun, it would mean that my others would be safe queens, and I don't do safe queens.  I try to keep them all exercised and fed regularly.
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

Guess it would be both my HK 416 (Walther) .22LR and Arsenal SGL31-84...

The 416 is a little picky when it comes ammo but it's still a lot of fun to shoot & cheap.   My SGL31-84 is the one rifle that gets fired every time I go to the range, I was lucky enough to have purchased a decent amount of 7N6 when it was cheap so shooting the AK isn't too pricey    Yeah it's corrosive but that doesn't bother me, just means I cant let it sit after a range day ;)

where do you get corrosive surplus 7.62x39 here? i just bought my first AK and it has a chrome-lined barrel so i really want to get a case of the stuff but i only see it online.

Why would u want corrosive ammo?  I hated having to deal with that stuff and my mosin.  Non-corrosive ammo for a mosin is pretty pricey.  Then again all ammo is arguably corrosive

A Marlin 22 rifle - like $95 after rebate from SA.  I want to buy 2 more.
S&W 1022 pistol - it starts having fte when it get dirty and I actually like that....get to practice clearing a lot.  (When thinning the herd, I sold my reliable stainless Ruger Mk 2)

one of my favorite plinkers:
Single Ten .22LR - it's a steel shooting, plinking machine!
