They might be reading this thread. :) Don't spill the beans!

Just imagine you are debating with Peter Carlisle after a few rounds of beer.
I think, therefore I am armed.

I'm a little late to the party, but I have a suggestion.

If they're going to behave like other anti-gun interviewers (Piers Morgan, Rosie O'Donnell, for example), you'd better bring a bullhorn along so you can shout them down while they're shouting you down and interrupting you.

That's an important part of their "debating" technique.

Seriously.

I do believe that the radical and crazy notion that the Founders meant what they said, is gradually soaking through the judicial system.

you might run out of air in the air horn before they run out of breath, never bad to have a spare  :D or bring a couple, lol

do not underestimate the stupidity of your opponent, they will always manage to surprise you with it

I said bullhorn.
A bullhorn will allow you shout until you run out of breath or batteries.

Bullhorn:

But seriously, that interruption technique is a favorite of theirs.  Piers Morgan was famous for that.  And quietly saying, "May I finish, please?" does not usually work because you're operating on the invalid assumption that you're in polite company, which you ain't.

I heard one interviewee allow the anti-gun interviewer to keep talking.  When he finally finished, the interviewee said absolutely nothing for a loooong pause.  Finally the interviewer asked "What do you say to that?"

The interviewee said. "Oh, sorry, I didn't realize you were done interrupting me."

I laughed my ass off over that one.

Another technique is changing the topic when you present a cogent and valid point.

A not-completely fictional sample:

You: "But the Second Amendment is not about hunting."

Them:  "What about the children?  You can't have yahoos with guns running around the schools willy-nilly!"

They have a lot of tricks up their sleeve.  Pro-gun people used to say "I can't watch Piers Morgan," but I always found it instructive to analyze his (and others') techniques.

yup, bullhorn is better lol, yeah i watched alot of the piers moron gun control debate, while i cant stand his arrogant rambling, i do agree with you on the tactics they used with diversions if their on a losing streak or just constantly interrupting your opponent thus interrupting his chain of thought. in the end the debate should be for the people who listen, hopefully open minded with common sense, most people are neutral and haven't decided on a side, while you cant change the anti guns views you sure can sway all the people to your side, jesse ventura did this to piers on his show, he asked the crowd if he made crack pot points but won the audience over.

Yeah, heh. I remember most of that Jesse Ventura interview.  Here's the best part:

Jesse Ventura Crushes Piers Morgan on 2nd Amendment

I suspect Jesse's sheer  "Physical Presence" and boom-box voice intimidated Piers into shutting up for a while.

It was good.
