Hmmm, Chinese New Year was not so long ago.

Kalama Valley could be like a war zone on some holidays.  Had a good brush fire going one year.  Another year looked like the videos of the first Gulf War over Baghdad.

I am sure some of what I heard was someone taking the opportunity to crank a few rounds off.................

To begin, thanks for showing up mac. It's always nice to have some company!

Second, I'm afraid I'll have to take issue with the title of this thread.

You forgot to insert the word ALLEGED into it. All of the supposed instances of bullets escaping the range are ALLEGED. To my knowledge, NO EVIDENCE has been put forth to PROVE these bullets came from KHSC. It is all based entirely on assumption. Until such a time as a recognized ballistics expert has come forth and explained how these bullets couldn't possibly be from anywhere else, I refuse to except as fact that these rounds came from KHSC.

I highly recommend we all take this stance. We shouldn't give our opponents an inch of slack, they won't give us any.

That being said, despite the fact that he prefaced it with another round of "It's raining bullets in Hawaii Kai!" GK's proposal was that the Board work in concert with the HRA to get the C&C to make improvements to the range. Having spoken with him in the past on this subject I can say that he's not completely opposed to us and could be a valuable ally in getting improvements approved and funded. HRA seems to have made peace with him, and while I can't as yet recommend complete trust, I would suggest a less contentious attitude.

Agreed, the issue must be pressed as being properly documented by police with recovery of the evidence and pictures of the damages to the homes. Besides if the homes were really in danger then I would be much more worried about the hikers on the mountain. Actually I am surprised they still allow people to hike that given it's location but thats another topic.

hmmm..
http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/18673359/city-investigates-claims-that-shooting-range-bullets-are-ending-up-in-neighborhoods

"Knudsen happens to be the chairman of the Hawaii Kai Neighborhood Board. He said his discovery, coupled with earlier discoveries of bullets on rooftops along Ahukini Street in 2009, have reopened the discussion about safety at the range. Knudsen claims the city hasn't followed safety recommendations that were made in a 2001 master plan report."

is this the same pristine bullets that Ed Masaki called out in the district park meeting in 2012?

damn, that looks like it came straight from the box, lol.

Yeah, a really old box, that was buried in the dirt for 30 years......

I've never had fresh ammo that was the color of a well circulated penny from 1942. If I did pull ammo out of a box and the projectiles were this weathered, I would seriously wonder if moisture had effected the powder.

well, i didnt mean age wise.  i just meant, it looks like it never hit anything.  at all.  you'd expect an actual stray projectile to be scratched or deformed, right?

Not a reflection on your post xer 21, I understood what you meant.

Yes it IS amazing. Apparently there is something quite special about KHSC that allows bullets to ricochet off of metal plates and rocks and remain utterly pristine.

I expect ballistics experts and the scientific community to descend on the place at any moment..........
