Currently I feel that Republicans are idiots on everything and possibly even worse than Liberals. The only good thing about Republicans is that they support 2A but they don't necessarily have a consistent rationale for why they do so, outside of personal preference. Republicans have the lowest level of support for individuals' rights on 1A, 4A, 14A, etc.

Libertarians are the ones who truly support our individual rights but they have no power. The Liberals are the only ones occasionally protecting our constitutional rights outside of 2A.

The right to privacy is unfortunately not explicitly in our Constitution though, so Republicans can trample on it all they like without technically violating their principles.

I concur that it is odd republicans are so big on protections from government information gathering on us but don't care so much about private companies doing it.

Granted they are not the same thing but the big question is this: If the protection had already been implemented, why the hurry to take it away? If it was an issue and they just didn't address it then that is one thing, but now they are taking action to reverse the progress made on the issue.

I get that there are some benefits with targeted advertising but are any consumers really asking for this? Are a bunch of conservatives standing around demanding the revocation of this privacy law in the name of freedom?! The downsides are far outweighed in my opinion. More gathered data is just more of a security issue from both hackers and the government. Only I think 8 republicans voted against this in the house. Is the rest filled with RINOs?

Agreed, I have to say that the recent record of republicans has been pretty sad in terms of conservative values. Trump is now toping that list.

Take abortion for example. Liberals want free choice so there are smaller families who then become more financially stable and become conservatives. The conservatives want pro life so families become larger and poorer so they can become liberal. It's the cycle of politics.
