Was that in the open market wrapped in the pink paper?

I think it was a plastic styrofoam container, but not sure since it was so long ago.

My grandma used to pick up from Chinatown and be in the pink paper.  She used to ask them for sample before buying.  She had similar taste in roast pork, so need to verify was guud.   ;D

Funny story, I was 5 years old when my great grandmother (looked Hawaiian 95%) took me down there. She was haggling the price with the butcher when he rattled something in Cantonese derogatory about her. He didn't know she spoke it fluently and gave back at him in Cantonese. I remember his mouth dropped open with his cigarette hanging on the side of his mouth. Pricless!

Hooo boy.  I just had to bump this thread.  I just pau eat some roast pork and char siu.  Hooo da ono!! :thumbsup:

My youngest daughter and boyfriend picked up some roast pork and char siu at Po Sing at the Mililani Marketplace where Safeway is.  It's a small place that has no accomodations for eat-in dining.  Just a hole in the wall for take-out.

It's the place I posted earlier where you can look through the window and watch the guy chop the meat on a wooden chop block with cardboard grease catcher that looked 80 years old......and looks like the grease was never wiped away.  Maybe that's why the damn things are so ono??

My doctor wants me to stay away from stuff like this.  And to only eat rice about the size of a fist.

But I had to eat some so I portioned out a fist size scoop of rice.  I'm not a big guy but I have big hands so I looked at my hand and said "I think I can add some more rice....." :D

Hooooo da ono!!!  Any way everybody, time to go out and buy some roast pork....and other stuff la dat! :shaka:

====================
About 10 years ago I went downtown with my daughter to cruise the Chinese stores.
We stopped at a place to buy some char siu. The grumpy chinese lady packed up our stuff and before I could even blink she snatched the money out of my daughters hand and took off.
I'm pretty sure I was supposed to get change back but it was too late.  :rofl:
