If it is a safe haven/rally point everyone is looking for I can create a private forum where you must be allowed in. Let me know and I can create it. It won’t be public and cannot be seen by outside sources.

Easy enough to do.

If there is enough interest in having an Internet Rally Point that is private I will be happy to set it up for us. Please PM me and if I get at least 20 people that would participate I’ll create one. I’ll allow in only people with a current account and you have to use your current username so we know who we are dealing with. Anyone who creates an account after right now must be invited by a current participant.

PM me if seriously interested.

Parler is going down tomorrow as Amazon pulls support, but they promise to return by Tuesday. Sounds like they had a backup plan. Fingers crossed

First can we get a background on what you inspect?  You have a high post count and a long time member.

Does anyone vouch for this member?

The problem is Apple and google dropped them off their app stores already. I think that may be the death of Parler even if they stay afloat. A lot of people are not going to like using a web browser to connect. Hopefully, I’m wrong.

I am since retired. I have worked exclusively in the private sector. But I have worked as a Special Inspector, Commercial Building Inspector, Construction Inspector, QA/QC Inspector and Engineering Technician in the construction industry. I was often contracted out to the HDOT, UH, C&C of Honolulu and the Airports. I was even contracted out to Kobayashi Construction as a QA/QC Specialist. I was responsible for all the QA/QC on the big condominium project at Ala Moana Center. I am certified by ACI and ICC as a Concrete Inspector, Masonry Inspector and Post Tensioned/Prestressed Concrete Inspector. I have my 30 and 40 hour OSHA and HiOSH Safety Certifications. I have worked on numerous major projects in and around Honolulu and Kapolei. Both Public Works and Commercial projects. This includes the H1 Makakilo Offramp to the Waterpark, the H1 Pearl City Viaduct Rehabilitation, The Rail, The Parking Structure and New Terminal at the Honolulu Airport, and numerous other projects in and around Oahu. I spent 2 years on the Big Island working on the Kealakaha Bridge Replacement doing QC for the concrete supplier. I spent my last 2 1/2 years of my career working for the best engineering firm in the state. I worked as an Inspector and did some engineering work for them. I even consulted for them on various rehabilitation and new construction projects. I changed careers mid life. And except for 12 years on the mainland (1996-2008) where I went back to college and got my degree and worked in the high tech field programming and scripting software, software testing and hardware DVT for Cisco Systems, Emulex and Qlogic. Plus some other short lived tech companies. The majority of my career was spent as an Inspector. I started working at 13 and my career at 18. I have worked full time for 44 years. I retired on March 13 of this year.

I have been on this forum almost from its inception. I have spent my entire time in the islands helping new shooters, as an NRA Certified RSO, I have volunteered most of my years to the HRA for the Shooting Sports Fair every Father’s Day weekend (except the last 3 years due to physical injuries), I have taken off of work to do things like protest at City Hall for the 2A cause and have donated a good part of my salary to local and nationwide 2A groups. I have been a part of almost every Gun Show one way or another volunteering mostly for the HRA but for helping out other groups as well. I have been a part of the 2A scene most of my years in the islands.

I dedicated most of my life to public life safety in the construction industry (which is the main function of an inspector) and gun safety and the 2A cause. I have probably brought in more new shooters to Hawaii than most here. I really don’t think I need to have anyone here “vouch” for me. But if someone cares to do so then they can.

Do you need to know more?

Steps for preventing Apple from deleting Parler from your phone:

1. Go to settings;
2. Click on “screen time”
3. Click: “Content & Privacy Restrictions”
4. Click: “iTunes and App Store Purchases”
5. Click: “Deleting Apps”
6. Click: “Don’t Allow”
https://parler.com/post/d3d42e9d25dc43eca3dc889a1d5fd395

I also read somewhere that you can still install the Parler App via their website but not 100% sure on this.

Scroll to the bottom of this page and click the appropriate Apple or Android icon.

Nope. I had two Big Island Forums. One for 5 years (Kau Forum) and the other for 12 years (Kona Forum) before I let them go. I was a web designer (Da Kine Web Design) and a web host (Da Kine Web Hosting) since ~2002 as well as a side business. They were originally Brilliant Web Design and Brilliant Host. One of my websites is still active. It is KHSC.INFO (Koko Head Shooting Complex) if you want to see some of my work. I no longer own it nor administer it. I gave it to one of the members here. I built the site and administered it for the 2A community for a few years before I retired and moved off island.

All I am proposing is a private forum such as the one we are on right now. Only you have to login in order to access it. Out of the prying eyes of everyone including search engines using a free service. But I am not getting enough interest to do so. Since I am not hearing enough interest in a private forum, what I will propose is a group chat on Signal Messenger instead. You can Google that for yourself. You can find out all about how secure and encrypted it is. All one has to do is get the app or access it through a web browser. Create your account and let me know your user name on Signal and your username on this forum and I will connect us all through a group chat.

Do you still have any questions?

Okay everyone, here is what I propose. Since there doesn’t seem to be enough interest (I’ll wait a couple more days) to get 20 people together to create a private forum as a rally point in case this forum is censored, I propose we just create our own accounts on the Signal Messenger which is encrypted and secure from prying eyes and I’ll create a group chat on there so those of who are concerned about losing access due to censorship can rally to Signal and stay in touch that way until we can discuss and figure out our next step.

Actually, I like the idea of being on Signal better as it will be easier and less work for me to maintain and administer it. So the people serious about staying in touch will need to provide some sort of verifiable information that one of the admins here can check including your screen name from this forum so we know who we are talking to on Signal.

What does everyone think of that idea?

The only issue i would have with this is that you’d be listing everyone’s phone numbers in the Signal group to the group.

A suitable countermeasure to protect everyone’s privacy is to use an alternate phone number for each member, but that would require each members to create a Signal account using a number other than their real one.

OR

We can just call or message each other in real life.

Personal relationships and trust built over time is more important than trying to meet strangers at this stage of the game, at least for the immediate short term.

Anyone can create their own “coconut wireless”circles in Signal and we can pass information to each other that way.

Hey JL,

For me I don’t really care as my number has been public since 2008 since I have used it for my businesses all these years. It’s not like no one can’t find me easily.

So if it agreeable for allowing one’s phone number to be made available only to the less than 10 or so people so far then it should be okay. We can us regular text messaging but I believe the phone companies actually keep records of our text conversations. Allowing the government to subpoena them if necessary. I believe I remember a few cases where the government subpoenaed the records from the phone companies.

At least with Signal our conversations will be encrypted and kept from prying eyes. At least until they change their privacy policies. Then we might have to switch to another service. But until then I’m game. Anyone else?
