Michael Moore called the suspected Colorado shooter Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa as “American as apple pie” in a series of tweets in which he suggested it would be wrong to classify the suspect as “Middle Eastern” and “Islamic,” even though he immigrated from Syria.

I wonder if there would be a way to study the effect on mass shootings by, instead of banning all guns to requiring everyone concealed carry?
In my mind, that would be one of the few solutions that could actually work. How may "mass" shootings could occur if EVERY target could defend itself with equal deadly force?
Even if people chose not to carry, the suspect wouldn't know that. He would have to go on the assumption that everyone could intervene.

Any thoughts?

Look up Kennesaw, Georgia. Population 33,000 people and every head of household is required to maintain a firearm. Violent crime rate below 2% and from 2012 to 2018 only 1 murder.

However there could definitely be other reasons that have nothing to do with the gun laws. Tight community’s like that probably have low crime rates whether they have guns or not. But it does blow the argument that more guns equal more gun crimes out of the water.

News on twitter is a man entered an Atlanta GA supermarket with 2 long guns and 3 pistols concealed under his jacket and has now been arrested.

Here lies the issue with Boulder.  They allow CCW for their residents.  Any gun free zone sign does not have the weight of the law behind it.  So you can still CCW inside the market or property and no one will know.

At this day and age, why no one was carrying when this happened, is really on them.  Unless they are disqualified from owning a gun.  If they don't believe in guns, then they can wait till the PD arrive and face any consequences of that decision.

I posted earlier, but BJ Baldwin didn't carry everywhere until he got in a situation that he could have needed his gun.  He thought he was just going to get milk, so no need.  Since that event, he carried everywhere.  Fast forward to his use of CCWing for self defense.  There may have been a chance he would be unarmed had that previous event not taken place.  His gf topgun tori was unarmed.  He recently posted on his IG story the importance of carrying everywhere, even if you're going down the road to buy a bottle of soda.

Now there are some places where people aren't allowed.  Like the Florida MSD shooting, staff not allowed to carry per federal law, unless they get the approval from the principal or like authority figure (gun free school zone law).  Or the Vegas shooting, the shooters were hundreds of yards away and to engage would not be wise with a pistol.  But in a Walmart like in the TX shooting or the Boulder market, CCW should be participated in.

Thank you for this info. I'm wondering the effect , not of having  a concealed carry ability, but rather a requirement. Basically making the choice to not carry the punishable one, although not enforced. That would give the assumption that EVERYONE  is prepared to defend themselves.   Would there be so many mass shooters , or would some think twice?
Similar to a hunter giving pause if deer had guns......... You understand

If that’s true then all of us born in hawaii are Hawaiian.  We should ALL apply for homes on Homstead land!  (This is known as sarcasm @ omnimpotent)
No one is coming, it’s up to us.

Legislation should never be about depriving law abiding citizens of something, but rather taking those things away from criminals.

US bombed some targets in Syria about a month ago. This suspect was born in Syria....

He's being reported as an ISIS sympathizer.  If this was still the Trump WH, it would be hyped as a terrorist attack, and that Trump caused it with his careless foreign policies and pulling troops out of Syria.

Never mind that the Pentagon lied to Trump about having reduced troop strengths while instead maintaining our force numbers there.

The media is starting to spin this as a garden variety mental illness issue (and gun control).  Before the shooter's identity was public, CNN was blabbing all day about the threat of "Angry White Males in the US."
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.
