I mentioned this in an earlier reply.  Suicidal people often need help to off themselves, so they commit crimes hoping the Cops will end it for them.

Other times they use a rampage to punish those they blame for their feelings on the way out the door.  Most can then use the gun on themselves before the Cops detain them, but sometimes that's still not enough to drive them to suicide.  It's a very difficult thing to end one's own life.  It goes against every natural survival instinct we have.  Shooting the bullies at school might create some kind of closure that makes them feel it's okay to do it now.

The warnings sometimes read "If you have thoughts of harming yourself or others," but many have taken the second part off of the warning.  I wonder if the lawyers decided such a "thought" warning might open big pharma up to liability claims if they admit they knew someone  might commit murder while on the medication?

I saw your earlier reply and touched on it briefly. From my readings and understanding about suicide by cop they just don't seem comparable. People who are trying to commit suicide by cop aren't usually trying to hurt the cop or anyone else.

This is very different to someone going around and trying to hurt others. Many active shooters kill themselves as soon as the cops arrive. Some surrender, but IIRC not that many get into gun battles with cops. (Not counting terrorist type activities of course). Active shooters are trying to hurt others, they don't need to kill a bunch of people in order to get cops to shoot them.

I get what you are saying about not wanting to put in language that a side effect would be thoughts of hurting others but to make the connection I think we need more data. We can't substitute homicidal feelings with suicidal feelings, they are different even if somewhat related. Again, we see other countries with higher rates of suicide but not not the mass murder type incidents. Japan has a higher suicide rate than America, they do allow anti-depressants, and yet they don't have anywhere near the rate of mass murder type incidents. This strongly suggests it is more than just the anti-depressants at work.
