I recently heard that a dental hygienist visits public schools in disadvantaged areas only.
The public schools in more affluent areas no longer get these visits. I heard this at my
dental clinic.

I still remember the dental hygienist at the elementary school I attended back in the day.
She would show us pictures of people with very advanced tooth decay/gum disease.
Some of the people were elderly and obviously in distress. She also had pulled teeth
that could not be saved as visual aids.

She would say: "Children, you need to care for your teeth. You don't want your teeth to
end up like this."  Today some might consider this child abuse.
