I have Ring cameras, and part of the phone app includes a Neighbors section for posting items of interest for the area. It used to be mainly for videos of people snooping around someone's door, stealing slippers, or checking for open car doors.
Lately it's been mostly lost and found pet posts. In the last month, the numbers have really gone up for lost pets -- more recently saying their pets were spooked by fireworks and found a way to get out of the home or yard.
I counted 25 lost/found pet posts since Dec 15th -- some with multiple animals missing or spotted wandering around. Maybe half show "resolved," which normally means the owners were able to connect with the OPs.
Maybe more people are buying Ring cameras, or maybe more stumbled on the feature in the app and are making use of it. I know a few posts are by friends of people posting on FB just forwarding the post for the Ring community. But, what is obvious, is there a LOT of people who can't seem to contain their animals, and the number I see is only in the Mililani-Waipio area.
i'll keep a running total as we enter the crazy loud New Year's firework displays. I bet the numbers will skyrocket -- pun intended.
