The m44 is in. Numbers matching 1945 production laminate, though the upper hand guard looks like hardwood. Pics to follow

Looks to be exactly what I wanted, laminate stock with all numbers matching, low wall from late 1945.

Nice, what scope are you using, LER rifle or pistol?

its a hi-lux 2-7x32 "rifle/scout" ler. mosin needs about 10-14 inches of eye relief and ive read most pistol scopes sweet spot for eye relief is about 14-18 inches since you would be holding your arms out extended while shooting a pistol. scout scopes sweet spots are about 10-14 inches of relief so i figured id try the hi lux since there arent many other options under $300.

yes its a UTG mount. had to trim the metal band off of the top handguard and knock off the factory rear iron sight to get to the dovetail. it remained solid after about 20 shots. if it doesnt hold, i forgot to drill a detent for the vertical set screw so if necessary ill temporarily "pin" it in place so it wont push forward from recoil.

glad someone noticed my wood  8)
ive spent countless hours wiping out the sticky "cosmoline," followed by bleaching the "dark areas", and rubbing it down by hand for many nights with something conveniently called tung oil

Hey!  That ammo wrapper looks familiar! :)

It's addictive, shooting these Mosins!  How was the accuracy of yours today??

It was pretty accurate. Didn't have to adjust the sights, just need to adjust to the rifle. I probably shouldn't have fired it 25-30 times, but the obnoxiously loud report and giant fireballs are addictive.

Need more ammo >:D
