There is the 22LR survival rifle - not same as 10/22 takedown.

The 10/22 has better after market mags.

I have problems with ALL of my mags for my AR-7.  I have 4 mags.  It jams while just loading, then FTF.

On the bright side, the AR-7 is the most compact, it floats on water and the mags 3 fit in the butt so you carrying 4, and it is very light.

BTW, the front orange sight was also a little bent, check that when buying, I did not notice until I was at the range.

Still it is the rifle that I use the most, trying to break it in, and the mags.

Will be used strictly as a BO gun.

My 10/22 (not take down) is designated as a secondary HD because of 25rd and dual mag capacity and reliability.

Good to know.

Are the sights replaceable/fixable/customizable?

Replacable about $6 before shipping.

The sights lean to one side a bit, so I try to compensate.  I tried to bend it back with pliers but didn't work.  I read somewhere else a person was having the same problem, might be a common occurrence.

Bought my mags from here.
Henry AR-7 not available at the moment but have for earlier models.  Sights are available.

Just do it!  Why are you even thinking about?  You can always sell it later...

My trigger finger is still itching to get the Ruger 10/22 TD.  Still waiting on it's availability and priced right for me to buy.  Hopefully the LGS or private seller not jacking up the price either.  One day  :(

Despite my previous comments, I can't pass up a good deal and I just bought a used 10/22 TD.  I can now go to the range and evaluate both the TD and the folding stock 10/22 side by side.

I might be persuaded to part with it at the gun show....

Get the takedown! They're great rifles? They store well, they're accurate, nd easy to throw in your backpack for a hike or camping.

If it came down to it and we had to survive. Shooting mongoose, birds, etc. It would have better aftermath results with my .22lr takedown than my .338 lapua.

You're gonna eat mongoose?  Ewwww.

For game birds, maybe a shotgun?

I think that feral pig would make a better meal.

I think, therefore I am armed.

That is assuming you find a pig. In a natural disaster or zombie appocalypse you will eat anything that moves. What will be the best overall gun to hunt in Hawaii?
