The Expendables gotta top the list for me.  This movie pays homage to so many things that are gun/firearms and firearm culture as well as other things like scenes from other classic movies, pro wrestling, MMA etc.

Take the movie's title for example.  This sorta goes back to Rambo II when he and the rebel chick was on the boat and rambo tells her how he's "expendable" and she asks what that means.

Another homage is the scene in the beginning where they confront the somali pirates.  Stallone and Statham are arguing who they're gonna go for.  Statham says "you're not that fast anymore" and stallone replies with "the only thing that's faster is light".  That little line sorta pays homage to Bob Munden when he's being interviewed and the interviewer asks him what comes close to the speed of his gun draw, and Munden replies "the speed of light".  Stallone even uses a single action revolver.  You can look that interview up on youtube.  Just search Bob Munden.

Another is during the big gun fight scene at the end where stallone is shooting a bunch of guys with his 1911 and reloading really fast.  It's sorta how speed reloads are done in competition shooting.  Obviously the way stallone was doing it was completely wrong, but still sorta cool.

Not to mention all of their equipment had top notch stuff on it.  SBR's with sopmod stocks, EoTechs and even noveske kx3 compesators.  Oh and of course the AA12 Shotgun!

Overall the movie was cheesy but i enjoyed it a lot because it brought back so many memories of different things.

"Replacement Killers" -Chow Yun Fat
"Hitman" - A little cheesy but I actually liked it! - just saw it last night too LOL

"Magpul Dynamics" - HAHA its a DVD it counts LOL

"Die Hard #1" - "Yippy Kai Yeh Motha @!#%"

To many good choices....gotta admit though, the 92F has its popularity in the 80-90's movies huh?  Shoot isn't Equilibrium a Beretta on Steroids?

I loved that last shootout in the movie kick a$$.

That little girl was terrific.

The saloon scene at the end of unforgiven is one of my favorites.

The bank robbery scene in the movie heat is my all time favorite.

And the "curve the bullet" garbage in the movie wanted gets my vote as the worst.
Your number one Option for Personal Security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

+1 on Heat as well. I hate Hollywood's ADD-inducing cheap tactics (loud sound in scary movies for a cheap scare, music that mysteriously starts playing as the action heats up, etc). I remember watching that movie and hearing the clarity of the guns firing and realizing how much more realistic and raw it is without retarded action music. Love it for that fact alone!

Michael Mann is a really great film-maker in that aspect. He also invests in his actors that carry firearms so that if their character should know what they're doing, they themselves should know what they're doing. many special features included in Michael Mann's dvds show actors going through tactical firearms training. even if they only have 1 scene. i can't stand watching scenes like in 'Land of the Dead' where a zombie approaches the highly reinforced safe zone with electrified fences. two soldiers on watch notice him and let him walk up to it. the zombie eventually grabs the fence and is immediately stuck to it, shaking like crazy while being fried. when told to take care of it, the female soldier proceeds to hip-fire her ENTIRE M16 magazine at the zombie. by some stroke of luck, one eventually hits it in the head. LMAO stupid crap like that really gets to me.

Other Michael Mann favorites of mine with guns:
Collateral
Miami Vice (remake)
The Kingdom -- the scene with Jamie Foxx dumping an H&K G3 magazine full-auto is amazing with a real sound system

edit: lol i just NOW saw ren's earlier post with collateral and miami vice

True Grit (2010): 1851 Navy Colt.

Gran Torino: How to Use a 1911 Effectively without Firing It.

The Wild Bunch : Best use of a Browning 1917 and 1897 Winchester.

Terminator 2: Whats not to like about a futuristic robot using a 100+ year old chopped down lever action shotgun.

Die Hard and Lethal Weapon Series: Makes a standard Beretta in 9mm look Bad@zz.

Bloodwork-  Clint Eastwood used the Performance Center S&W 627 revolver.  They don't offer these anymore with fluted cylinders, and sans the stupid lawyer lock,  but I still want one!

Imagine the blast and the noise of eight .357 full house magnum loads fired out of that 2 5/8" barrel! ;)

What fun!  :)
