General Discussion / Re: How to argue with people who are against guns

Got to decide if they're able to have an adult conversation without name calling, you can always agree is disagree but it has to be civil, and pro gun person can never loose his/her/it's cool and must be the bigger person if it goes south  :)

General Discussion / Re: Shooting at New Zealand Mosque
« on: March 26, 2019, 08:45:31 PM »
Possibly i didn't think of it like that, it's put a bit of a sour taste in alot of Aussies mouths as it reminds alot of the older generation about what happened in 1996 in Port Arthur down in Tassie ( Tasmania ) i was 3 so can't comment on to much but within days most of the semi's and shotguns got made illegal and eventually destroyed ( although many have been found in crime scenes since )

People are calling for more laws and regs here but thats nothing new.

It's kind of like cutting your own Penis off to stop and end Rape

Pretty tragic what happened, Us kiwis and Aussies are supposed to stick together, but the facts are slowly coming to light.. to suggest and action new laws within 6 days is just Amazing to me though

General Discussion / Re: Firearm Storage In Pelican/Plastic Cases
« on: December 04, 2018, 03:50:20 PM »
For long term pistol storage depending on the finish id personally be getting a tuff cloth wiping it down with that and wrapping it in a lightly oiled plastic bag the humidity and moisture you guys get is similar to northern Australia, or just get a plastic/cerakoted gun and not car haha, cerakote and synthetic stocks are pretty much what i have in my safe as paddock draggers

General Discussion / Re: Lever Action Rifles for Self/Home Defense
« on: November 22, 2018, 08:09:03 AM »
Curious why you would say that?

A 16" lever weighs about 6 lbs and has an OAL of  around 34",  The mechanical action is far less prone to stoppages than any semi-auto, and can be cleared quickly in any case of misfire.
A .357 magnum out of a 16" BBL has more than ample stopping power for bad persons wanting to do harm.

Maybe its just my firearms experience, we use alot of levers down under, clunky to use in my opinion, if theres a guy within a few yards down a hall way i know i want a semi, thats all there is to it, by the time i've fired a shot racked that thing and re acquired my target his on me. I've got no doubt in my ability to place how ever many shots are required to stop the threat with a semi auto. But thats just me, lever actions belong outside the house and in a big calibre

No friggn way, you want light manoverable, quick follow up shots, a lever simply isn't quick or reliable enough to defend my life, and i'd suggest not yours eaither
