What these dems are forgetting is that insurrection is a crime. And until an individual is convicted of a crime they are presumed innocent of the charges.

It’s pretty embarrassing that they would try to stoop to this level knowing Hawaii is a blue state.

Link to No 2nd amendment in Hawaii.

Sorry I’m computer illiterate.

So it looks like they are still processing permits. The video said it halted on the 18th

General Discussion / Comms
« on: December 17, 2023, 06:20:51 PM »
Just about to start dipping my toes into the world of comms. Was wondering what comms you guys may be running and if you have any input. I know a lot of people run the Bapfeng for the price point but in a shtf situation would it be too limited?

Only in a precision rifle shooting scenario would that be beneficial. Any other application you want to truly grip the gun in the event you need to do movement with the gun.

General Discussion / Re: Red dots on pistols

Every single gun I own has a red dot on it. It just makes target acquisition and follow up shots that much faster. It’s still important to be proficient with irons as a backup but with the battery life on these new dots and the durability I feel you can put complete confidence in them so why not take an opportunity to have that much more of an advantage.

Don't you have to take their class first to be able to holster draw?  Which cost another $100+.

You do first need to pass a rapid fire qualification for $25 then a holster draw qualification for $25 to be able to do both. IMHO that’s very valid because if people don’t know how to shoot they will literally shoot anything but the intended target. X ring is hands down the nicest cleanest indoor range in the state and if I owned the business I would require the same standards in order to maintain that status. Most indoor ranges in the mainland won’t ever allow you to rapid fire or holster draw so I take x ring allowing you to do that as a win.

The good thing is once you pass those qualifications you can do real world training. Me personally I want to train and I refuse to let pricing which is most likely where it is because they have a business to run get in my way. The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful to everyone I have ever seen there but for some reason some people are against it and I respect their opinion as well.

X ring is the way to go. If you are going to shoot at least 1x a week then the $1200 you pay is covering all of your range fees for the year and you get to shoot your own ammunition. If you are going to shoot less than 1x a week then you need to figure out if that investment is worth it in your situation. For me it’s a no brainer cause sometimes I’m there like 3x a week. And with the subscription you don’t feel bad about going in and shooting 50rds then dipping out.

All that aside you are able to do real practical training there unlike anywhere else I’m aware of. You can rapid fire and holster draw. Koko head is good cause it’s free but let’s be honest if you don’t practice for practical applications you will never be proficient at it.

General Discussion / Re: HPD issuing any CCW permits?
« on: August 05, 2023, 09:29:19 PM »
I had my CCW since July .
I went and purchased a new Springfield 1911 on August 2nd.
August 3rd, went to HPD today to process PTA, waited 20 mins to receive PTA paperwork.
Went back to LGS to pick my new 1911.  One advantage to having a CCW permit !

Yeah if you have a permit to carry take advantage of the perk of not waiting the 14 days now because they will be changing that rule soon enough

108 days and counting

That’s a pretty long wait…I’m curious to see what happens after 120 days. Will they make people reapply even thought the delay is on their end?

Just wondering if anyone has seen a single location where a business has actually taken the time to post the guns allowed sign.

General Discussion / Re: New to Oahu: Where to shoot?
« on: March 14, 2023, 07:51:27 PM »
Thanks all. I was hoping for an outdoor range to shoot rifle once in a while. Sounds like those are few and far between and invitation only. Are there any organizations to join to get access to something like that?

You can shoot rifle indoor at X-Ring only thing is it’s 25yds. Keep in mind even if Koko head was open you have so many restrictions there that it is only conducive to target practice. No holster draw or rapid fire makes shooting there a lot less appealing to those who want to train for real practical applications.

It will be very interesting to see how this all pans out. Considering most people qualified with more than 1 gun that current figure of 38 should be divided by 2 which means roughly 20 applicants of the 800 were issued permits.

Picked this up, just waiting for range to reopen and not be busy. But I hear some good things regarding the prodigy on the 2011 sub reddit

Very nice you’re gonna love it. My C2 is hard to beat.

General Discussion / Re: CCW Insurance
« on: March 04, 2023, 07:08:10 PM »
If you think showing them an insurance card is going to solve all those problems, you are in for a rude awakening.

It’s not about showing anyone the card it’s about the protections that card represents it’s about the fact that with coverage you will already have people there to back you without coming out of pocket for any of those expenses. If people are balking about paying a few hundred dollars for the annual policy premium imagine how bad it could be when they need to post $100k bail then attorney and legal fees on top of that.

Howzit gang, just thought I'd start a thread to discuss CCW insurance and how you guys feel about it.

The insurance that our leaders are proposing:  It's like car insurance in case someone wants to file a civil suit against you, am I right?

And this would be mandatory and is different from the other insurance like USCCA?

So the insurance (mandatory) our leaders are proposing is for "victims" and their family to sue you for wrongdoing in a firearm incident.

While insurance like USCCA provides funds for your defense in case of criminal charges brought against you.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Seems like the costs of exercising your 2a rights in this State can get very expensive.  Application fees, classroom and range fees, and insurance fees.

So how do you members feel about all of these fees, restrictions, and if the proposed mandatory liability insurance is a good or bad thing.  And for those who already have CCW permits, do you also have protection like USCCA?

I personally wouldn’t ever consider carrying without insurance. The last thing you’re going to want to worry about after having to defend yourself with your CCW is the fear of now being sued and having to pay some obscene amount of money in order to pay for all of the legal fees involved including bail and attorney fees. Keep in mind Hawaii is not 2a friendly and I have a feeling even if defending yourself was justified I could see them setting bail at a $1,000,000. I would much rather pay the $300-500 for that peace of mind.
